GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF LEARNING PROCESS
Week 1:
Students are given some theories on meeting management. These theories are needed to facilitate
them to understand more thoroughly about the strategies and ways to conduct an effective business
meeting, not only from the English language perspective but also from communication perspective.
Students' activities:
- Learning and discussing, by delivering questions about meeting management on the basis of the
availble learning resources.

Week 2-3:
After the students get enough knowledge on meeting management, they are introduced to some more
specific theories on how to chair a meeting. Some example videos are played and they are assigned to
make their own videos individually.
Students' activities:
- Learning and discussing by delivering questions about chairing a business meeting on the basis of the
available learning resources.

Week 4-5:
Using the available module, students are given some example expressions to open a meeting. As
linguistic competence is formed not only by memorizing words, phrases and sentences but also by
developing lingustic creativity, in this section students are assigned to create their own personal
expressions to open a meeting.
Students' activities:
- Learning some example expressions to open a business meeting from the module and the availabe
learning resources.
- Creating some original expressions to open a business meeting of their own.
- Practising to use those expressions and record it in a video.

Week 6-7:
Points of View is very important to discuss during EBM sessions to facilitate students to get deeper and
more comprehensive information. Students are given theories and examples how to utilize ponts of
view in practice. This is done both individually and in groups.
Students' activities:
- Learning some example expressions of the use of points of view from the module and the available
learning resources.
- Creating some original expressions to practise points of view of their own.
- Practising to use those expressions and record it in a video.

Week 8-9:
Making suggestions is another skill taught to students to make them able to functjon effecively in a real
business meeting. Individual and group simulation is needed . This activity is recorded as a video and
regarded as a learning project.
Students' activities:
- Learning some example expressions to make suggestions from the module and the available learning
resources.
- Creating some original expressions to make suggestions of their own.
- Practising to use those expressions and record it in a video.

Week 10-12:
Ending a meeting is the next skill which must be well mastered by students. It is not only concerned
with some expressions which are generally used to end a business meeting but also deal with
psychological aspects of communication.. Therefore, besides using references such as the available
module and open resources, some example videos are exposed to them.

Students' activities:
- Students learn from the available module and open resources about expresions which are generally
used to end a business meeting.
- Students are given an assignment to create some expressions to end a business meeting.
- After waching an example or model video, they are given opportunity to practice individually and in
groups.
- This practice is recorded in their own respective videos.

Week 13-14:
During these weeks students are tought and trained to understand some theoritical basis and skill of
giving suggestions. It is expected that by the end of these sessions they can practice it professionally like
in a real business meeting. Example videos are exposed as models.
Students' activities:
- Students learn some examples of expressionst to give suggestions effectively in a business meeting.
- Students create some more examples of the expressions of their own.
- Students practise to use the expressions individually and in groups.
- Students record the practice in their own videos.

Week 15:
In this week students learn from the whole videos of how to chair a business meeting professionally
from opening up to ending stage just like a real business meeting in industries. After watching the
videos students make a simulation of a business meeting in groups. This activity is recorded in their own
videos.

Students' activities:
- Students watch example videos of how to chair a meeting complestely ftom opening up to ending or
closing a business meeting.
- Students pratice to chair a business meeting from the opening until the closing in groups.
- Students record the meeting in their videos.


Week 16-17:
Writing minutes of a meeting is one of the competencies which must be acquired to complete the course of English Business Meeting. In a business meeting it is quite necessary for students to have this competence. Minutes of meeting keeps very impotrant information of the business meeting and business decisions which have been approved by everyone in the meeting.

Sudents' activities:
- In these sessions students learn patterns of sentences used in writing minutes of meeting covering active and passive voice or direct and indirect sentences.
- Students do some grammar exercises related to the patterns.
- Students practise to write minutes of meeting.
- Practising to write minutes of meeting in a business meeting.

Week 18-19:
In the end of the semester students get the assignment to make English Business Meeting project. This project is done by providing a simulation script of a business meeting. practising business meeting simulation, and recording the simulation in the form of video.

Students' activities:
- Discussing the project preparation in groups.
- Writing business meeting script.
- Discsusing scenario of the business meeting simulation.
- Conducting the business meeting simulation.
- Finishing the project video.
